Travail sur la Nouvelle Zélande

THE VEGETATION

The mildness of the temperature and the abundance of the rain favor the development of the forest: the “bush” of the New Zealand is very original by his flora and his fauna, because there are a lot of kinds of animals who are rare and that we can only find in New Zealand and nowhere else. At the north where the temperature is hot, the forest is subtropical type, with tall conifers , the kamis ; in the mountains of the south island appears, at the opposite, the nothofagus , a beech tree with resistant leafs that we find only in Tasmania and in the Chilean Patagonia; but there are lot of conifers ( rimu , totara), and the under forest is very dense; the creepers, the epiphyte , the tall trees fern give at the vegetable formation a different aspect of the conifer’s forest where the zone is in the northern hemisphere and is temperate. In the parts where the access is hard, we can find the typical animals of the New Zealand, in particular strangely birds like the “kiwi” , which is the country’s emblem.

The forest often give way to low formations: the grassy clump of the “tussock” who appears in the part most dry (the east of the South Island) or the “alpine meadow” of the tall mountains. But the forest often had been destroyed by the humans and stand by the posture or the heaths.

TRADITIONS OF NEW ZEALAND

Lifestyle and traditions

The lifestyle of the New Zealanders looks like at this one of the habitants of an occidental country, in Anglo-Saxon version; the British influence stay presented at few levels: pubs, beer, passion of rugby, cricket and yachting, play of bowls, schoolboy in uniform , scones and tea time.

The new zealandese’s identity is consolidated since the last war and with the no English-speaking originated of the south of the Europe and Asia. The Maori’s legacy who had been pushed back and neglected is today a renaissance , in particular by the music and the tattoos. But there is an isolation between the traditionalist and the young maoris of the cities caused by the ancestor handing down.
